I'm always scouring the web looking for stuff that will help make my job as a freelance designer easier. Sometimes we can all use a little inspiration. Here are listing of places where you can get some free stuff. If you know of some places on the net that should be shared with everyone, let me know and I'll add it.
When I'm not busy behind my computer designing some great piece for a client, I like to get out in the sun and bust out the trusty piece of colored chalk and put my designs down on the pavement. There's something awesome about taking a quick sketch and having it come to life in a 48 hour period over a 6x6 foot square. These chalk drawings were done by myself and another fellow artist Felipe Ramos. They took place up and down along Southern California, from Pasadena to San Diego. Keep tabs on this blog and I'll update you with the next one we're doing.
There's something fun about doing these 30 second caricature drawing of people I run into along the streets. I get a kick out of the end results. Some make for great animation characters. I wonder if the people I drew would recognize themselves? humm.
I thought this drawing was fantastic when I ran across it a year or so ago. The pencils were done by Matias Hannecke and I just took it for a spin and rendered the coloring for it to help bring it to life.
Some of these were designed to be used on actual packaging design, others were designed just because. Either way, I thought they turned out pretty good.
A day worth celebrating as our 44th President is sworn into office. If you can not take January 20th off to congregate in civic celebrations across the USA, you can show your support and pride with a commemorative t-shirt, poster, post card, and other fine products. You can find this custom design for sale at www.cafepress.com and www.zazzle.com
